Trunk-or-treats and Halloween events
Trunk-or-treats, where families walk a line of decorated car trunks or booths instead of going door to door, are the main organized Halloween events in Daytona Beach this year.
| When | What | Where | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct. 14 (past) | Trunk or Treat Vendor Market: vendors hand out candy from their booths; free hot dogs, juice, water and trick-or-treat bags from Daytona Toyota | Daytona Toyota, 451 N. Nova Road | Free |
| 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 | Halloween Bash & Trunk-or-Treat: a trick-or-treat trail of local businesses and resources, games with prizes, face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses and a family costume contest | Jackie Robinson Ballpark, City Island | Free |
Costumes are encouraged at the Halloween Bash. For the rest of the month’s events, including the Oktoberfest street party on Beach Street on Oct. 23, see things to do this month. Pumpkin patches and fall festivals are on our fall festivals page.
Trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 31
Halloween is on a Saturday this year, with no school the next day. Daylight saving time is still in effect on Oct. 31 and ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
Common-sense steps for the night:
- Go with an adult, stay on sidewalks and cross at corners and crosswalks.
- Carry a flashlight or wear something reflective.
- Choose flame-resistant costumes, and makeup over masks that block vision.
- Check candy before children eat it, and throw out anything unwrapped.
- Drivers: slow down in neighborhoods, and watch for children darting between parked cars.
- Leave your porch light on if you are handing out candy, off if you are not.
Several state roads that cross residential parts of the city are under construction this fall, including A1A on the beachside and Mason Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue on the mainland. See road construction and closures.
