Under construction

A1A (Atlantic Avenue), north of International Speedway Boulevard to Milsap Road. A $20.5 million, 3.7-mile resurfacing project that started in early 2025 and is expected to finish in spring 2027. FDOT is adding signal and lighting upgrades, drainage, raised intersections, wider sidewalks, raised midblock crossings with pedestrian-activated signals and new curb ramps. The speed limit dropped from 35 mph to 30 mph during construction and will stay at 30 mph when the job is done.

Mason Avenue (S.R. 430), Clyde Morris Boulevard to east of Beach Street. A $12 million, 2.4-mile repaving and safety project that started in spring 2025 and is expected to finish in fall 2026. It upgrades crosswalks, adds a sidewalk on the north side and puts in four new midblock crossings with pedestrian hybrid beacons.

U.S. 1 (Ridgewood Avenue), Beville Road to north of Fairview Avenue. A $9.3 million, 2.9-mile resurfacing and safety project starting this fall and expected to finish in fall 2027. FDOT plans four midblock crossings with pedestrian hybrid beacons (north of Osceola Avenue, between South Street and Cedar Street, south of Shady Place and north of Live Oak Avenue), raised intersections with high-visibility crosswalks, and a protected southbound left-turn lane at Shady Place in place of the two-way turn lane.

City streets

Daytona Beach is studying whether to turn some one-way beachside streets back into two-way streets. After a community meeting at the Peabody Auditorium in early September, the city said Public Works found Earl Street could be converted without major reconstruction, Wild Olive Avenue might work under the right conditions and Oleander Avenue is harder because of its narrow pavement. Staff will also look at North Coates Street and Hollywood Avenue. Seabreeze and Oakridge boulevards are state roads, so any change there needs FDOT approval. No decision has gone to the City Commission yet.

Report a pothole, a broken sign or a signal problem on a city street through the city’s SeeClickFix portal.
