Volusia County closes the Silver Beach ramp in Daytona Beach to cars and walkers Monday, Oct. 19, into early 2027. Use the Speedway Boulevard ramp instead.
The Silver Beach access ramp in Daytona Beach closes Monday, Oct. 19, and is expected to stay closed into early 2027. Volusia County is rebuilding it.
The closure covers both vehicles and pedestrians. The county announced it in a news release on Oct. 12.
What the county is building
According to the county, the project includes:
- a reconstructed concrete ramp
- new family-style restrooms, moved farther up the ramp to reduce damage from coastal storms
- new sidewalks and curbing
- updated lighting and electrical work
- structural work, landscaping and finishing
The county said the goals are to modernize the ramp, make it more resilient to storms and improve accessibility. The release does not give a cost, a funding source or a firm reopening date.
Where to get on the beach instead
The county pointed beachgoers to the International Speedway Boulevard ramp. Its Volusia Beaches app lists other nearby access points.
The stretch of sand between the two ramps has its own rule. Drivers there may go one way only, north to south, from International Speedway Boulevard to Silver Beach Avenue, according to the City of Daytona Beach’s beach information page. The city counts 26 beach access points for pedestrians or vehicles in Daytona Beach.
