Start, stop or transfer service on the city’s utility portal, or call Utility Billing at 386-671-8100, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays (Utility Billing page). For pickup days and rules, see our trash and recycling guide.
Electricity. Florida Power & Light serves Daytona Beach. Start service on FPL’s start-service page. Outage maps and numbers are on our power outages page.
Natural gas. Peoples Gas serves Daytona Beach and the neighboring cities in northern Volusia County under a territorial agreement with Florida Public Utilities, which serves the southern part of the county around New Smyrna Beach, according to a Florida Public Service Commission filing. Start service on Peoples Gas’s site, which also lists deposit options. Ask Peoples Gas whether your address is served before you plan on gas appliances.
Internet. AT&T publishes service for Daytona Beach on its Daytona Beach page. Cable and other providers check service by street address on their own websites; enter yours before you sign a lease. The FCC’s National Broadband Map shows every provider that reports service at a given address.
Driver’s license, tag and title
Florida gives new residents 30 days to get a Florida driver’s license and 10 days to title and register a vehicle, which requires insurance from a Florida-licensed agent, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ new resident page. A vehicle brought from another state also needs a VIN inspection on state form HSMV 82042.
In Volusia County, the Tax Collector handles licenses, tags and titles. Book an appointment or see branches and hours. The two closest offices:
- Daytona Beach, 1847 Holsonback Drive (with the Department of Health): motorist services and taxes.
- South Daytona one-stop shop, 2400 S. Ridgewood Ave., Suite 2: driver’s licenses, tags and more.
