Where it is
This page follows Neighborhood P on the city’s planning map layers: the mainland west of Clyde Morris Boulevard, from about Mason Avenue south to International Speedway Boulevard, out toward Williamson Boulevard and the industrial parks. Mason Avenue, Dunn Avenue, Williamson Boulevard and International Speedway Boulevard are the main roads.
The city’s comprehensive plan says:
- Along Mason Avenue in Madison Heights, the stretch between Clyde Morris Boulevard and Kentucky Street “shall not be rezoned to allow retail or automotive uses.”
- Land east of Williamson Boulevard, north of International Speedway Boulevard and south of Mason Avenue is a buffer for “the Indigo residential area,” kept for apartments, offices and light industry.
- The large area north of the Volusia Mall is to be kept “as a nearby residential area for employees of the City’s major industrial parks to the west,” and “will support several thousand persons when fully developed.”
- About 53 acres along the Indigo Lakes Golf Course are designated for homes, with buildings within 300 feet of existing houses held to 35 feet.
- Across International Speedway Boulevard from Daytona International Speedway, about 114 acres of commercial amusement land may hold no more than 1,500 homes.
Of the 1,273 address points inside the area in Volusia County’s address data, all but one are in ZIP code 32114. All are inside city limits, so the city provides police, fire and trash service.
